Appendix E: Detailed Data Inventory
Historical Context
Launched in 2023, the initial vision was to create a separate business unit, the ADO, reporting directly to the CEO. The idea was that by doing so, it would send a crucial message enterprise wide regarding the importance of data and a strong will to shift from producing data without a purpose to generating quality data loops.
The ADO was initally supposed to serve as the central unit and one-stop-shop regarding all data initiatives. It was set to take over and grow the historical data inititives bored by the RDO, which would then maintain a more IT role, as opposed to a fully "data" role. ND, in that regard, via its RDO, would serve as the supplier of the environment, tools and accesses, and the ADO would be in charge of the collection, curation, management and exploitation of all data-related initiatives.
To date, both the RDO and ADO roles are very much overlapping, creating more confusion for business owners.
